Floor Replacement: When we purchased this particular box truck, there were some issues with a few areas on the floor. of course we took it for an estimate and wouldn’t you know. The charges were outrageous. I would have to sell parts of my grandkids to make that happen. So what do we do? We check out the floor at the yard and decided that with right help, We could pull it off. Replacing all of the bad areas of the 2003 Freightliner Business Class M2 took us 7 hours, a few beers, lot of laughs and did it for less than $500. Which is about $2,200 less than what we were quoted.
One of the first things we had to do was hire a carpenter. It is very important to hire someone who at least has a knowledge of the tools need to complete the task at hand. The last thing you want is for someone to get injured, or worse working on your project. We decided to go with WASE LLC out of Orlando FL. His portfolio included elaborate canine kennels, cabinetry, base boards, trims, benches, gazebo’s, the whole nine. So there was no hesitation in retaining his services. Not to mention, he was more excited than I was to see the end results.
We then had to gather up enough wood flooring to repair the damaged areas. So, unfortunately we had a driver hit a tree and ruined the box on one of our trucks about a week prior. We took the pieces of flooring that we would need from the donor truck and use those for the replacement in the other. At first glance, It looked like it was going to be a little easy, but how safe is your shipment on a truck, If you can remove the floors easily?. Our carpenter started measuring spots, removing this, and cutting the right pieces to fit where they needed to be. Ensuring that the pieces he did cut not only covered the damaged area, but were also long enough to reach the necessary anchor points to secure them safely.
